How we work

Gun’s for hire?

Not really! We almost always work as a team for the simple reason that this approach has proven throughout the many projects we have worked on, headed up or just built to be extremely successful. We are extremely good at finding alternative and sometimes unorthodox solutions to complex problems, and that is really what we are selling. We have been working together within the streaming industry since 2012 and have spent the majority of this time working on the edge of what is possible which has given us a unique perspective on how far we are able to push the boundaries on a given project, as well as, the experience and confidence to follow through on ideas and concepts that may seem radical or over the top. While this approach from time to time has proven to be an obstacle when negotiating with customers who just want to add an experienced consultant to their team, we most often end up referring such assignments to some of our excellent colleagues from the industry if we can’t manage to convince the given customer to accept our mode of operation.

Areas of expertise

Players

Player development has always been a very big part of our consultancy portfolio, especially in web-based technologies. Having assisted and worked on many projects like HBO Nordic, Bein Sport, ATG Play, XFactor, CMore, Tv4 Play and many more. We have extensive experience with most of the big player frameworks on the market with particular emphasis on Hls.js, Shaka, ExoPlayer and AVPlayer. We also have our own player framework Wacka which is being used in our Chromecast offering DeCaf. Our own products are so far only showcased, and sold, through word of mouth. So for more information on them, contact us.

Chromecast

It goes without saying that Chromecast continues to be a very big part of what we do with the release of our DeCaf receiver and sender SDKs in late 2022. We have direct experience with building custom Chromecast receivers going back to 2013 when our founding members Daniel and Lars built one of the first Widevine enabled Chromecast receiver projects for HBO Nordic (then at Qbrick Sweden). Since the launch of this company we have built custom receivers for Plejmo, BeinSport, Tv4Play, Cmore and TeliaPlay to name a few. We have over many years been solving more and more complex challenges on the platform inadvertently specializing ourselves in writing super efficient code in order to push the boundaries of what the devices can manage.

We have extensive experience with both SSAI and CSAI having built custom Google IMA integrations back in the days to more modern SSAI approaches like Yospace and Media-Tailor.

Drm

We have certified developers for both Widevine and PlayReady… and Marlin for some reason.. We have extensive Drm knowledge from both the player development and implementation level as well as the server-side and infrastructure aspect. We also have more direct knowledge working with encryption on a lower level having built a decryption module for both Widevine classic many years ago as well as a CENC and CBCS software decrypter for our MuxTool project which supports this feature.

Software architecture and sdk development

We have over many years built many different libraries, frameworks and SDKs for our customers and for ourselves. Framing projects through the use of packaging is very often our goto solution in order to separate concerns and complexity as well as internal and external development. We have on quite a few occasions had the pleasure reframing an existing solution or project so as to make it easier to maintain. We also have more than 200.000 lines of sdk code in our own internal projects.
